NEED YOUR AAP/NRP PROVIDER CARD?
YOU WILL NEED TO:

  1. PLEASE NOTE
If you are a CPM or CNM, or work in a CABC birth center you are required to take Advanced.
If you are not a CPM or CNM needing NRP for licensure and just want the skills and knowledge behind neonatal resuscitation, you can take Essentials .BUT be clear you will not end up with chest compressions listed on your NRP card. Chest compressions are taught on my Teachable course and in the Live Skills session, but it will NOT be on your NRP card. Only taking Advanced covers you for having learned the chest compressions portion of NRP.
If you require chest compressions on your NRP Card then you MUST take Advanced!

  2. If you are working as an unlicensed, it is my suggestion that you still take Advanced as this gives you the NRP card that covers chest compression.

  3. If you are a student or assistant that is working with a midwife, it is my suggestion that you also take Advanced. NO ONE will be using. all those advanced skills in practice but you may end up at a resuscitation where you are required to assist in a major resuscitation while a hemorrhage is also happening.

  4. Essentials does not give you an NRP card the covers chest compressions, that is only covered in Advanced. I teach chest compressions in my online Teachable course and we skill test in the Live Skills but it will not be on your NRP card unless you take Advanced.

  5. It is my understanding that if you are at a birth as a skilled attendant (Midwifery assistant, student, helper, extra set of hands, etc.), regardless of your title or roll you probably need to have taken the Advanced course so your NRP card states you have been trained in chest compressions.

  6. Register and pay for Karen’s video course on Teachable (Required before attending skill testing). Non-refundable.

  7. Register and pay for Live, Skill-Testing (See individual locations for price)

  8. Complete your NRP requirements -- you’ll receive email instructions once your class is guaranteed. This includes:
    8th Edition NRP textbook
    NRP exam

  9. PRACTICE your skills! Practice at home before attending live skills.

  10. Attend the Live Skill-Testing Session. You’ll receive details by email to download your provider card within one week of class completion.

HERE IS A DETAILED OUTLINE OF THE ABOVE STEPS:

1. REGISTER AND PAY FOR KAREN’S TEACHABLE COURSE

Required. Non-refundable. Click here to register and pay.

Karen’s unique out-of-hospital Neonatal Resuscitation teaches EXACTLY what to do when faced with a newborn in distress. The Teachable course is required before attending Live, Skill-Testing. Spend some time with Karen on Teachable and ‘take the charge off’ of learning resuscitation. All parts of the video lecture need to be watched, video clips and handouts printed, and then… Drink some tea, take a few breaths, and practice…practice… practice…

2. WHEN LIVE SKILL-TESTING SESSIONS ARE CONFIRMED, YOU’LL RECEIVE AN EMAIL:

Once we've met our minimum registration numbers, we'll send out an email to confirm the class. If numbers aren’t met, you’ll be notified via email, and Live, Skill-Testing registration fees will be refunded. No refunds will be given for the Teachable course.

3. ONCE CONFIRMED, COMPLETE THESE THREE AAP/NRP REQUIREMENTS:

4A. PURCHASE AND READ THE TEXTBOOK OF NEONATAL RESUSCITATION, 8TH EDITION

Options:

4B: PAY AND TAKE THE AAP/NRP ONLINE LEARNING ASSESSMENT THROUGH THE NEW NRP LEARNING PLATFORM:

Log into AAP/NRP Learning Platform and set up your Global ID Purchase curriculum: Essentials or Advanced. Unsure which to pick? *

4C. REGISTER FOR LIVE, SKILL-TESTING, ON NRP ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM

After taking the online learning assessment:

5. PRACTICE YOUR SKILLS AT HOME

REQUIRED. Practice at home before attending the Live, Skill-Testing Session. The Live Skill-Testing is just a check off of your skills, and not a time to practice. Therefore, please allow time to practice with Karen on Teachable, before attending Live, Skill-Testing.

6. ATTEND LIVE, SKILL-TESTING SESSION, PROVIDE FEEDBACK AND DOWNLOAD NRP CARD

After Live, Skill-Testing, you’ll receive email confirmation that you’ve passed. Then, log into NRP Learning Platform and provide feedback within the course survey.

Need CEUs? 6.5 CEUs (MEAC) are available as part of your purchase of the Integrative Resuscitation of the Newborn course on Teachable. To qualify for CEUs, you must watch the purchased lectures, take the quiz on Teachable and complete the evaluation.

CEUs for Licensure: If you’re collecting CEUs for licensure, the AAP/NRP Part 1 CE Certificate is what you’ll need. Keep a copy for your records. NARM does not accept CEUs for any AAP/NRP course, because it is a required course.
