Our Mission

Our mission is to provide comprehensive neonatal resuscitation and emergency education,
written specifically for when birth occurs outside the hospital (homebirth, birth center, car on the way there).
Everyone who spends time around pregnant and birthing people, should know how to help a baby in distress,
and how to effectively assist in an emergency.

The problem:

  1. NRP is written for hospitals, with special teams and tools.

  2. NRP doesn’t include the OOH specific information that is critical for midwives to know.

  3. NRP isn’t accessible to all providers, due availability.

Why it matters…

  1. You want to be prepared. You’re there, for the rare. So prepare for the rare.

  2. You want everyone to be on the same page. You want your team, and backups, to be prepared, as a cohesive unit, to take care of your client.

  3. You care about the future of midwifery and supporting babies and families.

How you can help:

  1. Talk about it. With other midwives and doulas about the importance of emergency training for everyone attending out-of-hospital births.

  2. Get educated. Take Karen Strange’s IRN course on Teachable, written for midwives, by a midwife.

  3. Sign your name in support of comprehensive neonatal resuscitation education for all midwives.

  4. Go the extra mile… Write a short testimonial in support of our mission.
